    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to campaign contributions; amending s.
    3         106.08, F.S.; prohibiting legislators, statewide
    4         officeholders, and certain candidates from soliciting
    5         or accepting contributions to or on behalf of a
    6         political committee, committee of continuous
    7         existence, electioneering communications organization,
    8         or an organization operating under specified
    9         provisions of the Internal Revenue Code; prohibiting
   10         such individuals from controlling, coordinating, or
   11         consulting with such a committee or organization;
   12         providing exceptions; providing penalties; providing
   13         an effective date.

   15  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   16  
   17         Section 1. Paragraph (c) is added to subsection (7) of
   18  section 106.08, Florida Statutes, to read:
   19         106.08 Contributions; limitations on.—
   20         (7)
   21         (c)A member of the Legislature, a statewide officeholder,
   22  or a candidate for legislative or statewide office may not,
   23  directly or indirectly, solicit, cause to be solicited, or
   24  accept any contribution to or on behalf of a political
   25  committee, committee of continuous existence, electioneering
   26  communications organization, or, except for a political party or
   27  campaign of the candidate, any organization operating under s.
   28  527 of the Internal Revenue Code, and may not control,
   29  coordinate, or consult with any such committee or organization.
   30  Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, any person
   31  who knowingly and willfully violates any provision of this
   32  paragraph commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as
   33  provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
   34         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
