A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to dentistry; amending s. 466.006, F.S.;
3authorizing certain applicants licensed to practice
4dentistry in other states to take the licensure
5examinations for licensure in this state; providing for
6expiration; amending s. 466.0067, F.S.; conforming a
7cross-reference; providing an effective date.

9Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11     Section 1.  Subsection (4) of section 466.006, Florida
12Statutes, is renumbered as subsection (5), and a new subsection
13(4) is added to that section to read:
14     466.006  Examination of dentists.-
15     (4)  Notwithstanding subsection (3), an applicant licensed
16to practice dentistry in another state who has maintained such
17license in good standing for at least 3 years may take the
18licensure examinations required in this section to practice
19dentistry in this state. This subsection expires July 1, 2012.
20     Section 2.  Subsection (12) of section 466.0067, Florida
21Statutes, is amended to read:
22     466.0067  Application for health access dental license.-The
23Legislature finds that there is an important state interest in
24attracting dentists to practice in underserved health access
25settings in this state and further, that allowing out-of-state
26dentists who meet certain criteria to practice in health access
27settings without the supervision of a dentist licensed in this
28state is substantially related to achieving this important state
29interest. Therefore, notwithstanding the requirements of s.
30466.006, the board shall grant a health access dental license to
31practice dentistry in this state in health access settings as
32defined in s. 466.003(14) to an applicant that:
33     (12)  Has passed an examination covering the laws and rules
34of the practice of dentistry in this state as described in s.
35466.006(5)(4)(a).
36     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
