The Committee on Judiciary (Simmons) recommended the following:
1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

3 Delete everything after the enacting clause
4 and insert:
5 Section 1. Section 324.024, Florida Statutes, is created to
6 read:
7 324.024 Financial responsibility for bodily injury or
8 death.—Every owner of a motor vehicle that is required to be
9 registered in this state and every operator of any motor vehicle
10 located within this state shall establish and maintain, by one
11 of the methods established in s. 324.031, the ability to respond
12 in damages for liability on account of accidents arising out of
13 the use of the motor vehicle in at least the amounts prescribed
14 in s. 372.021(7)(a) and (b). This section does not apply to any
15 motor vehicle that has been continuously and exclusively used
16 for a commercial purpose since being acquired by its current
17 owner. The requirement of this section be in addition to any
18 other financial responsibility required of the owner of a motor
19 vehicle.
20 Section 2. Sections 627.730-627.7407, Florida Statutes, are
21 hereby repealed.
22 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2012.

32 vehicles; providing an exception; repealing ss.
33 627.730-627.7407, F.S., relating to Florida's Motor
34 Vehicle No-Fault Law; providing an effective date.
