A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to concealed weapons or firearms licenses;
3amending s. 790.06, F.S.; providing an exemption from
4certain restrictions for licensees holding specified state
5and county offices; providing an effective date.

7Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
8
9     Section 1.  Subsection (12) of section 790.06, Florida
10Statutes, is amended to read:
11     790.06  License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.-
12     (12)  No license issued pursuant to this section shall
13authorize any person to carry a concealed weapon or firearm into
14any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05; any police,
15sheriff, or highway patrol station; any detention facility,
16prison, or jail; any courthouse; any courtroom, except that
17nothing in this section would preclude a judge from carrying a
18concealed weapon or determining who will carry a concealed
19weapon in his or her courtroom; any polling place; any meeting
20of the governing body of a county, public school district,
21municipality, or special district; any meeting of the
22Legislature or a committee thereof; any school, college, or
23professional athletic event not related to firearms; any school
24administration building; any portion of an establishment
25licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the
26premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily
27devoted to such purpose; any elementary or secondary school
28facility; any career center; any college or university facility
29unless the licensee is a registered student, employee, or
30faculty member of such college or university and the weapon is a
31stun gun or nonlethal electric weapon or device designed solely
32for defensive purposes and the weapon does not fire a dart or
33projectile; inside the passenger terminal and sterile area of
34any airport, provided that no person shall be prohibited from
35carrying any legal firearm into the terminal, which firearm is
36encased for shipment for purposes of checking such firearm as
37baggage to be lawfully transported on any aircraft; or any place
38where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law.
39Nothing in this subsection would preclude a state legislator,
40county commissioner, school board member, state attorney, public
41defender, or county constitutional officer who holds a license
42pursuant to this section from carrying a concealed weapon in a
43meeting of the governing body of which he or she is a member.
44Any person who willfully violates any provision of this
45subsection commits a misdemeanor of the second degree,
46punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
47     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
