A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to journeymen; amending ss. 489.1455 and
3489.5335, F.S.; revising licensing requirements for
4journeymen in specified trades; deleting requirements that
5certain apprenticeship programs register with the former
6Department of Labor and Employment Security; providing an
7effective date.

9Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11     Section 1.  Paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of section
12489.1455, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
13     489.1455  Journeyman; reciprocity; standards.-
14     (1)  An individual who holds a valid, active journeyman
15license in the plumbing/pipe fitting, mechanical, or HVAC trades
16issued by any county or municipality in this state may work as a
17journeyman in the trade in which he or she is licensed in any
18county or municipality of this state without taking an
19additional examination or paying an additional license fee, if
20he or she:
21     (b)  Has completed an apprenticeship program registered
22with the Department of Labor and Employment Security and
23demonstrates 4 years' verifiable practical experience in the
24trade for which he or she is licensed, or demonstrates 6 years'
25verifiable practical experience in the trade for which he or she
26is licensed;
27     Section 2.  Paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of section
28489.5335, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
29     489.5335  Journeyman; reciprocity; standards.-
30     (1)  An individual who holds a valid, active journeyman
31license in the electrical trade issued by any county or
32municipality in this state may work as a journeyman in any other
33county or municipality of this state without taking an
34additional examination or paying an additional license fee, if
35he or she:
36     (b)  Has completed an apprenticeship program registered
37with the Department of Labor and Employment Security and
38demonstrates 4 years' verifiable practical experience in the
39electrical trade, or demonstrates 6 years' verifiable practical
40experience in the electrical trade;
41     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
