A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to biomedical research; amending s.
3215.5602, F.S.; revising provisions that specify amounts
4of revenue to be appropriated to the James and Esther King
5Biomedical Research Program, the William G. "Bill"
6Bankhead, Jr., and David Coley Cancer Research Program,
7and the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research
8Institute; specifying amounts of revenue to be
9appropriated to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center
10of the University of Miami and the University of Florida
11Shands Cancer Center; providing an effective date.

13Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15     Section 1.  Subsection (12) of section 215.5602, Florida
16Statutes, is amended to read:
17     215.5602  James and Esther King Biomedical Research
18Program.-
19     (12)  From funds appropriated to accomplish the goals of
20this section, up to $250,000 shall be available for the
21operating costs of the Florida Center for Universal Research to
22Eradicate Disease. Beginning in the 2011-2012 2010-2011 fiscal
23year and thereafter, $25 $50 million from the revenue deposited
24into the Health Care Trust Fund pursuant to ss. 210.011(9) and
25210.276(7) shall be reserved for research of tobacco-related or
26cancer-related illnesses. Of the revenue deposited in the Health
27Care Trust Fund pursuant to this section, $25 $50 million shall
28be transferred to the Biomedical Research Trust Fund within the
29Department of Health. Subject to annual appropriations in the
30General Appropriations Act, $5 $20 million shall be appropriated
31to the James and Esther King Biomedical Research Program, $5 $20
32million shall be appropriated to the William G. "Bill" Bankhead,
33Jr., and David Coley Cancer Research Program created under s.
34381.922, $5 and $10 million shall be appropriated to the H. Lee
35Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute established under
36s. 1004.43, $5 million shall be appropriated to the Sylvester
37Comprehensive Cancer Center of the University of Miami, and $5
38million shall be appropriated to the University of Florida
39Shands Cancer Center.
40     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
