House Resolution
2A resolution honoring Daryl Parks as President-Elect of
3the National Bar Association.

5     WHEREAS, during the National Bar Association's 85th Annual
6Convention held in New Orleans in August 2010, Daryl Parks was
7elected to become the next President of this prestigious
8organization, an office he will assume in 2011, and
9     WHEREAS, founded in 1925, the National Bar Association,
10which represents a professional network of over 20,000 lawyers,
11judges, educators, and law students, is the nation's oldest and
12largest national association of predominantly African-American
13lawyers and judges, and
14     WHEREAS, Daryl Parks, a founding and managing partner of
15Parks & Crump, LLC, is a Florida A & M University alumnus,
16having received his bachelor's degrees in political science and
17economics while serving as the first Student Government
18Association President to be elected to two consecutive terms in
19the university's history, and
20     WHEREAS, Daryl Parks, who entered law school with the
21purpose of making a difference in his community, received his
22Juris Doctorate from Florida State University's College of Law,
23and
24     WHEREAS, as an attorney in Tallahassee, Daryl Parks'
25passion for the law specifically includes protecting those
26incapable of protecting themselves, and he has established
27himself as a methodical businessman and tenacious attorney who
28fights for justice, and
29     WHEREAS, known for his compassion, community service, and
30devotion to Florida A & M University, Daryl Parks currently sits
31on the Boards of Directors of the Florida Justice Association,
32the Tallahassee Urban League, the Leon County Sickle Cell
33Foundation, and the Florida A & M University Foundation and is a
34member of the Florida A & M University Board of Trustees, and
35     WHEREAS, as President-Elect of the National Bar
36Association, Daryl Parks looks forward to using his leadership
37to foster relationships between the organization's past and its
38bright future, to work tirelessly to take the National Bar
39Association to new heights, to expand its membership, and to
40continue improving the administration of justice with honor and
41integrity, NOW, THEREFORE,

43Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
44Florida:

46     That it is fitting and appropriate that the House of
47Representatives recognizes Daryl Parks for his outstanding
48achievements and congratulates him for his election to the
49highest office of the National Bar Association.
50     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
51presented to Daryl Parks as a tangible token of the sentiments
52expressed herein.
