House Resolution
2A resolution honoring the memory and accomplishments of
3President Ronald Wilson Reagan on the 100th anniversary of
4his birth.

6     WHEREAS, President Ronald Wilson Reagan, a man of humble
7background, worked throughout his life serving freedom and
8advancing the public good as an entertainer, union leader,
9corporate spokesperson, governor of California, and, ultimately,
10President of the United States, and
11     WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan served with honor and distinction
12for two terms as the 40th president of the United States of
13America and was elected to his second term by 3/5ths of the
14electorate and by 49 of the 50 states, a record unsurpassed in
15the history of American presidential elections, and
16     WHEREAS, in 1981, when Ronald Reagan was inaugurated
17President, he inherited a disillusioned nation that was shackled
18by rampant inflation and high unemployment, and
19     WHEREAS, during his presidency, Ronald Reagan worked in a
20bipartisan manner to enact his bold agenda of restoring
21accountability and common sense to government, which led to
22unprecedented economic expansion and opportunity for millions of
23Americans, and
24     WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan's commitment to an active social
25policy agenda for the nation's children helped to lower crime
26and reduce drug use in our neighborhoods, and
27     WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan's commitment to the Armed Forces
28contributed to the restoration of pride and values in America
29and to those values cherished by the free world, and prepared
30this nation's Armed Forces to meet 21st Century challenges, and
31     WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan's vision of "peace through strength"
32led to the end of the Cold War and the ultimate demise of the
33Soviet Union, guaranteeing basic human rights for millions of
34people, and
35     WHEREAS, February 6, 2011, is the 100th anniversary of
36Ronald Reagan's birth, and the 7th since his passing, NOW,
37THEREFORE,

39Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
40Florida:

42     That the memory and accomplishments of President Ronald
43Wilson Reagan are honored and recognized on the 100th
44anniversary of his birth.
