    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to motor vehicles; creating s.
    3         320.08465, F.S.; waiving the standard registration and
    4         license plate fees and charges for one motor vehicle
    5         for any member of the United States Armed Forces who
    6         is stationed outside the state; requiring that the
    7         applicant pay the applicable fee for any additional
    8         motor vehicle registration or license plate or
    9         personalized prestige or specialty plate; providing an
   10         effective date.

   12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   13  
   14         Section 1. Section 320.08465, Florida Statutes, is created
   15  to read:
   16         320.08465Waiver of motor vehicle registration and license
   17  plate fees for certain active members of the United States Armed
   18  Forces.
   19         (1) Any resident of this state who is an active member of a
   20  branch of the United States Armed Forces and is stationed in or
   21  assigned to another nation under military orders shall, upon
   22  application and proof of eligibility, be issued one standard
   23  registration and license plate for a motor vehicle in this state
   24  without charge, while stationed in or assigned to such foreign
   25  nation. An application for any additional motor vehicle
   26  registration or license plate or a personalized prestige or
   27  specialty plate must be accompanied by the appropriate fees as
   28  provided in this chapter.
   29         (2) An eligible applicant may apply for a specialty license
   30  plate as provided in s. 320.08056 upon payment of the fee
   31  required in that section. All other fees shall be waived as
   32  provided in subsection (1).
   33         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2012.
