       The Committee on Rules (Thurston) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment to Amendment (417610) 
    2  
    3         Delete lines 5 - 29
    4  and insert:
    5         3.This paragraph does not apply to members of bargaining
    6  units that represent law enforcement officers, correctional
    7  officers, or correctional probation officers as those terms are
    8  defined in s. 943.10, registered nurses as defined in s.
    9  464.003, or firefighters as defined in s. 633.102.
   10         Section 2. Section 447.303, Florida Statutes, is amended to
   11  read:
   12         447.303 Dues; deduction and collection.—
   13         (1)An Any employee organization that which has been
   14  certified as a bargaining agent has shall have the right to have
   15  its dues and uniform assessments deducted and collected by the
   16  employer from the salaries of those employees who authorize the
   17  deduction of said dues and uniform assessments.
   18         (2)(a)Deductions shall commence when the employer receives
   19  a signed deduction authorization form from the bargaining agent
   20  and confirms with the employee, electronically or by other
   21  means, that he or she authorized the deduction of dues and
   22  uniform assessments. The employer must make such confirmation
   23  within 30 days after receiving the signed deduction
   24  authorization form.
   25         (b)An employee’s authorization to deduct dues and uniform
   26  assessments remains in effect until the members of the
   27  bargaining unit approve a new collective bargaining agreement
   28  with the public employer or for 3 years after the date on which
   29  the deduction begins, whichever is earlier.
   30         (c)This subsection does not apply to members of bargaining
   31  units that represent law enforcement officers, correctional
   32  officers, or correctional probation officers as those terms are
   33  defined in s. 943.10, registered nurses as defined in s.
