    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to assessments for school district
    3         levies; amending s. 193.1554, F.S.; deleting the
    4         exception for school district levies relating to the
    5         assessment of nonhomestead residential property;
    6         amending s. 193.1555, F.S.; deleting the exception for
    7         school district levies relating to the assessment of
    8         nonresidential real property and residential real
    9         property; providing a contingent effective date.

   11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   12  
   13         Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 193.1554, Florida
   14  Statutes, is amended to read:
   15         193.1554 Assessment of nonhomestead residential property.—
   16         (2) For all levies other than school district levies,
   17  nonhomestead residential property shall be assessed at just
   18  value as of January 1 of the year that the property becomes
   19  eligible for assessment pursuant to this section.
   20         Section 2. Subsection (2) of section 193.1555, Florida
   21  Statutes, is amended to read:
   22         193.1555 Assessment of certain residential and
   23  nonresidential real property.—
   24         (2) For all levies other than school district levies,
   25  nonresidential real property and residential real property that
   26  is not assessed under s. 193.155 or s. 193.1554 shall be
   27  assessed at just value as of January 1 of the year that the
   28  property becomes eligible for assessment pursuant to this
   29  section.
   30         Section 3. This act shall take effect on the effective date
   31  of the amendment to the State Constitution proposed by SJR 1060
   32  or a similar joint resolution having substantially the same
   33  specific intent and purpose, if such amendment to the State
   34  Constitution is approved at the next general election or at an
   35  earlier special election specifically authorized by law for that
   36  purpose.
