Redistricting 2012
New Districts in Place for 2012 Elections
The Florida Legislature passed new congressional, state house, and state senate plans based on the 2010 Census, standards in federal and state law, citizen comments and testimony, publicly-drawn maps, and open committee discussions. Records reflecting voters' insights about redistricting and making representative democracy work for their communities are posted on the Public Hearings and Legal Submissions pages. Maps, statistics, and downloads for the 225 plans submitted by legislators, staff, or the public are posted on the Submitted Plans page. Senate Committee and floor actions relating to redistricting legislation in 2011-2012 are listed on the Legislative Actions page. The Supreme Court's opinions and other documents related to the Apportionment case are posted on the Florida Supreme Court's website.
As of April 30, required legal reviews are complete. The Division of Elections will partner with local supervisors of elections to implement the new districts. Qualifying for state and federal offices concludes June 8, 2012.
