Senate 1540: Relating to Zero-tolerance Policies/Schools [SPSC]

S1540    GENERAL BILL/CS/CS/CS/CS/1ST ENG by Education Pre-K - 12 Appropriations;
  Judiciary; Criminal Justice; Education Pre-K - 12; Wise;
  (CO-INTRODUCERS) Sobel; Bullard  (Similar CS/H 0997, Compare H 0785,
  S 0406, S 1250)
  Zero-tolerance Policies/Schools [SPSC]; Requires that a district school
  board having a policy authorizing corporal punishment as a form of
  discipline review its policy on said punishment at specified intervals.
  Provides that zero-tolerance policies do not require the reporting of
  petty acts of misconduct and misdemeanors to a law enforcement agency.
  Encourages school districts to use alternatives to expulsion or referral
  to law enforcement agencies, etc.  EFFECTIVE DATE: 07/01/2009.
