Florida House of Representatives - 1997 HB 1157 By Representative Meek 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to trust funds; creating the 3 County Article V Trust Fund within the Office 4 of the State Courts Administrator; providing 5 for uses of moneys in the trust fund; providing 6 for future review and termination or 7 re-creation of the trust fund; providing an 8 effective date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1. County Article V Trust Fund.-- 13 (1) The County Article V Trust Fund is hereby created, 14 to be administered by the Office of the State Courts 15 Administrator. Funds credited to the trust fund shall be used 16 to assist counties in offsetting the costs of operating the 17 state courts system, including, but not limited to, 18 court-appointed counsel in criminal cases, deposition costs in 19 criminal cases, expert witness fees, and court reporting and 20 witness fees. 21 (2) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the 22 contrary, any county having a population of less than 75,000 23 may use funds from the trust fund for construction, 24 renovation, or other capital improvements of courthouse 25 facilities. 26 (3)(a) Pursuant to the provisions of s. 19(f)(2), Art. 27 III of the State Constitution, the trust fund shall, unless 28 terminated sooner, be terminated on July 1, 2001. 29 (b) Prior to its scheduled termination, the trust fund 30 shall be reviewed as provided in s. 215.3206(1) and (2). 31 Section 2.
