17 Section 9. Subsection (8) of section 163.3187, Florida
18 Statutes, is created to read:
19 (8) The Department of Community Affairs may contract
20 with a regional planning council in order to delegate the
21 review of local government plan amendments. When the review
22 has been delegated to a regional planning council, any local
23 government in the region may elect to have its amendments
24 reviewed by the council rather than the agency. The
25 department shall retain the oversight necessary to insure
26 compliance with the purposes of this chapter.
