1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to health care contracts;
3 amending s. 627.419, F.S.; providing that
4 health insurance policies or other health
5 services contracts that provide certain
6 benefits must pay for the services of advanced
7 registered nurse practitioners; providing an
8 effective date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12 Section 1. Subsection (9) is added to section 627.419,
13 Florida Statutes, to read:
14 627.419 Construction of policies.--
15 (9) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, any
16 health insurance policy, health care services plan, or other
17 contract that provides payment for services that are within
18 the scope of an advanced registered nurse practitioner's
19 professional license must also provide for payment to the
20 employer of an advanced registered nurse practitioner who
21 performs such services. This subsection applies only if
22 reimbursement for a physician licensed under chapter 458 or
23 chapter 459 would be covered and if an advanced registered
24 nurse practitioner who performs such services is used as a
25 substitute.
26 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
27 law.

3 Provides that health insurance policies or other health
care contracts that provide benefits for services
4 performed by physicians which are within the scope of an
advanced registered nurse practitioner's professional
5 license must also provide coverage for the services of
advanced registered nurse practitioners.
