  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution recognizing May 18 to May 24,

  3         1998, as child, domestic, and elder abuse

  4         awareness week.

  6         WHEREAS, residents of this state should have a safe

  7  home environment in which to live, and

  8         WHEREAS, many children, spouses, and elders living in

  9  this state are subjected to abuses, both physical and mental,

10  which drastically reduce the quality of their life, and

11         WHEREAS, child, domestic, and elder abuse is increasing

12  both within this state and nationally, and

13         WHEREAS, the Florida Senate recognizes the needs of

14  children, spouses, and elders, and the detrimental effects of

15  abuse and wishes to emphasize the plight of victims of child,

16  domestic, and elder abuse in the state, who are in need of

17  help, NOW, THEREFORE,

19  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

20

21         That May 18 to May 24, 1998, is recognized as child,

22  domestic, and elder abuse awareness week.
