  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution acknowledging May 1, 1997, as The

  3         National Day of Prayer in Florida.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has passed a

  6  law proclaiming the first Thursday of each May as "The

  7  National Day of Prayer," and

  8         WHEREAS, May 1, 1997, is the first Thursday in May of

  9  1997, and

10         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the House

11  of Representatives acknowledge May 1, 1997, as The National

12  Day of Prayer in Florida, NOW, THEREFORE,

13

14  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

15  Florida:

16

17         That the House of Representatives joyfully acknowledges

18  May 1, 1997, as The National Day of Prayer in Florida and

19  joins Floridians of all faiths in celebrating this occasion.

20  Let us express our faith with gladness, knowing that we are

21  protected in our ability to worship devoutly.  Let us be

22  thankful and enjoy and exercise our religious beliefs, secure

23  in the knowledge that in this great country we shall always be

24  free to do so.
