Florida House of Representatives - 1997 HR 9127 By Representative Westbrook 1 House Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing the 1997 Class A Boys' 3 State Basketball Champions, the Tigers of 4 Malone High School. 5 6 WHEREAS, the Malone High School Tigers won their fourth 7 consecutive State Basketball title, the twelfth such title in 8 the school's history, and 9 WHEREAS, the Malone Tigers join Daytona Beach Seabreeze 10 for the most consecutive state championships in state history, 11 and 12 WHEREAS, March 4, 1997, at the George Jenkins Arena in 13 Lakeland, the Malone Tigers defeated Central Florida Christian 14 of Ocoee, 81 to 59, in the championship game, and 15 WHEREAS, the Malone Tigers completed their championship 16 season with a 30-8 record, and 17 WHEREAS, Cori Tiggs was named the tournament's Most 18 Valuable Player and was chosen as the Class A Player of the 19 Year, and 20 WHEREAS, Naton Williams and Tyrone Tiggs were named to 21 the All-Tournament team, and 22 WHEREAS, Naton Williams is the only high school 23 basketball player to have won four successive championships 24 beginning with his freshman year, and 25 WHEREAS, Head Coach Matt Anderson has won his third 26 consecutive state title in 3 years as Head Coach of the Malone 27 Tigers and has been named Class A Coach of the Year, and 28 WHEREAS, team cheerleaders Deidre Long, Patricia 29 Torres, Gwen Johnson, Katrina Williams, Crystal Williams, 30 Crystal Green, Andrea Jones, Sadaka Glenn, and Katie Jones and 31 1 CODING: Words stricken are deletions; words underlined are additions.
