  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution commending Mr. Fred Taylor,

  3         Director of the Metro-Dade Police Department.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, Mr. Fred Taylor, a native of Miami, joined the

  6  Metro-Dade Police Department as a police officer in 1962, and

  7         WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor moved through the ranks of the

  8  department as Captain, Chief of the Administrative Division,

  9  Chief of Police Services, and Assistant Director, and, in

10  1987, was appointed Director of the Metro-Dade Police

11  Department, and

12         WHEREAS, throughout his career, Director Taylor

13  continued his education, obtaining bachelor's and master's

14  degrees in public administration and graduating from several

15  police institutes in the country, and

16         WHEREAS, the recipient of numerous personal awards,

17  Director Taylor is especially proud of his department's

18  accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law

19  Enforcement Agencies, which acknowledges the department's high

20  level of procedures and professionalism, and

21         WHEREAS, as director of the country's second largest

22  sheriff's department and one that is counted among the top ten

23  police agencies nationwide, Director Taylor commands a force

24  of highly trained and qualified sworn personnel and civilians,

25  and

26         WHEREAS, another source of pride for Director Taylor is

27  his involvement in the creation and operation of a trust fund

28  to provide assistance to officers and their families in time

29  of need, and

  1         WHEREAS, it is fitting that Director Taylor be honored

  2  for his dedicated commitment and service to the Metro-Dade

  3  community and police department, NOW, THEREFORE,

  4

  5  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

  6  Florida:

  7

  8         That Mr. Fred Taylor, Director of the Metro-Dade Police

  9  Department, be commended for his outstanding accomplishments

10  and contributions to the citizens of Dade County.

11         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

12  be presented to Mr. Fred Taylor as a tangible token of the

13  sentiments expressed herein.
