  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution commending Robin Harrell for her

  3         dedicated and tireless service in creating and

  4         maintaining the legislative message center.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, Robin Harrell began work for Centel Phone

  7  Company as a Service Representative in 1974, and

  8         WHEREAS, Robin Harrell began working in the Centel

  9  Legislative Message Center in 1983 as an adjunct to her

10  regular duties for the phone company, where she

11  single-handedly maintained a message and information center

12  for both permanent and seasonal Capitol visitors during all

13  succeeding legislative sessions, and

14         WHEREAS, Robin Harrell began handing out snacks for

15  Capitol visitors along with directions to various committee

16  rooms and legislators' offices in 1988 and started a Capitol

17  custom which endures today, and over the 13 years that she

18  staffed the center, she provided thousands of pounds of snacks

19  which were paid for by Capitol visitors, and

20         WHEREAS, Robin Harrell created a friendly,

21  nonthreatening "time-out" zone for everyone who works in or

22  visits the Capitol, including visiting school children and

23  their teachers, legislative staff, the Capitol Press Corps,

24  and Capitol Security, and

25         WHEREAS, Robin Harrell has provided invaluable service

26  to Capitol visitors returning each year by assisting with

27  transfer of telephone service, and has kept messages for

28  countless thousands of Capitol visitors, and

29         WHEREAS, Robin Harrell always kept the message center

30  open until session had adjourned each night, regardless of the

31  hour of adjournment, and

  1         WHEREAS, Robin Harrell has been promoted by Sprint

  2  Centel to a position which takes her from the Capitol during

  3  legislative session, NOW, THEREFORE,

  5  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

  6  Florida:

  7

  8         That the House of Representatives, on behalf of all the

  9  visitors who have known or been helped by Robin Harrell,

10  commends her for her dedicated and tireless service to the

11  Legislature and all the citizens who have visited the Capitol.

12         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

13  be presented to Robin Harrell as a tangible token of the

14  sentiments expressed herein.
