11  Senator Clary moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 37, between lines 11 and 12,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 29.  (1)  The select committee to investigate

18  and establish firesafety evaluation system criteria for the

19  cost-effective application of fire codes and fire code

20  alternatives for existing educational facilities which was

21  established by chapter 98-287, Laws of Florida, is authorized

22  to continue its work. Committee appointment authority

23  established in chapter 98-287, Laws of Florida, continues even

24  if any position on the select committee becomes vacant.

25  Members of the committee shall serve at their own expense

26  except that state employees shall be reimbursed from existing

27  budgets for travel costs incurred.

28         (2)  The sum of $80,000 is allocated from the Insurance

29  Commissioner's Regulatory Trust Fund to the Division of State

30  Fire Marshal for the purposes of providing training and

31  education on the application of the firesafety evaluation

 1  system for existing educational facilities to those impacted

 2  by its use. The Division of State Fire Marshal shall cause the

 3  firesafety evaluation system for educational facilities to be

 4  reviewed for inclusion in the Florida Fire Prevention Code as

 5  an acceptable alternative to code compliance.

12         On page 3, line 3, after the semicolon

15         authorizing the continuation of the select

19         responsibilities of the Division of State Fire

20         Marshal;
