  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to fish habitat restoration of

  3         public lakes; creating s. 372.0745, F.S.;

  4         creating a fish habitat restoration program for

  5         public lakes in the Fish and Wildlife

  6         Conservation Commission; providing an effective

  7         date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 372.0745, Florida Statutes, is

12  created to read:

13         372.0745  Fish habitat restoration program.--There is

14  established within the Fish and Wildlife Conservation

15  Commission a fish habitat restoration program for public

16  lakes. The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission shall

17  annually approve an aquatic resource enhancement funding list

18  with input from state and local government agencies and the

19  public. The approved funding list shall identify for each lake

20  the proposed restoration activities, the proposed restoration

21  budget, and the current work status. The commission shall

22  prepare the funding list based upon the ability to receive

23  timely permit approval for restoration activities, the

24  estimated project costs, availability of other sources of

25  funding for restoration, the degree of public access and use

26  of the lakes, and legal and administrative considerations.

27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1999.
