  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to Broward County and the South

  3         Broward Hospital District; amending chapter

  4         24415, Laws of Florida, 1947; providing that

  5         the South Broward Hospital District is not a

  6         public body or taxing authority for purposes of

  7         part III of chapter 163, Florida Statutes;

  8         providing an exception with respect to

  9         community redevelopment agencies created before

10         a specified date; providing an effective date.

12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14         Section 1.  Section 41 is added to chapter 24415, Laws

15  of Florida, 1947, as amended, to read:

16         Section 41.  (1)  Notwithstanding the provisions of

17  part III of chapter 163, Florida Statutes, the district is not

18  a "public body" or "taxing authority," as those terms are used

19  in part III of chapter 163, Florida Statutes.

20         (2)  This section shall not apply with respect to

21  community redevelopment agencies established prior to January

22  1, 1998.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

24  law and shall apply retroactively to December 31, 1998.
