12  Appropriations offered the following:

14         Amendment (with title amendment) 

15         On page 7, lines 10 through 15

16  remove from the bill:  All of said lines

18  and insert in lieu thereof:  employ all welcome center staff.

19  On or before June 30, 1999, all welcome center staff shall be

20  offered employment through the direct-support organization at

21  the same salary such staff received through the Department of

22  Transportation, prior to July 1, 1999, but with the same

23  benefits provided by the direct-support organization to the

24  organization's employees.  Welcome center employees shall have

25  until January 1, 2000, to choose to be employed by the

26  direct-support organization or to remain employed by the

27  state.  Those employees who choose to remain employed by the

28  state may continue to be assigned by the Department of

29  Transportation to the welcome centers until June 30, 2001.

30  Upon vacating a career service position by a career service

31  employee, the position shall be abolished.  The agreement

 1  between the Department of Transportation and the Florida

 2  Commission on Tourism concerning the funding of positions in

 3  the welcome centers shall continue until all welcome center

 4  employees are employed by the direct-support organization, or

 5  until those employees choosing to remain employed by the state

 6  have found other state employment, or until June 30, 2001,

 7  whichever occurs first.
