  2         An act relating to the Florida Panther License

  3         Plates; amending s. 320.08058, F.S.; deleting a

  4         distribution of proceeds to the Florida

  5         Communities Trust Fund; providing an effective

  6         date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Subsection (5) of section 320.08058,

11  Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

12         320.08058  Specialty license plates.--

13         (5)  FLORIDA PANTHER LICENSE PLATES.--

14         (a)  The department shall develop a Florida panther

15  license plate as provided in this section.  Florida panther

16  license plates must bear the design of a Florida panther and

17  the colors that department approves.  In small letters, the

18  word "Florida" must appear at the bottom of the plate.

19         (b)  The proceeds from the annual use fees shall be

20  distributed to the Florida Panther Research and Management

21  Trust Fund to be used for education and programs to protect

22  the endangered Florida Panther. The department shall

23  distribute the Florida panther license plate annual use fee in

24  the following manner:

25         1.  Eighty-five percent must be deposited in the

26  Florida Panther Research and Management Trust Fund in the Fish

27  and Wildlife Conservation Commission to be used for education

28  and programs to protect the endangered Florida panther.

29         2.  Fifteen percent, but no less than $300,000, must be

30  deposited in the Florida Communities Trust Fund to be used

31  pursuant to the Florida Communities Trust Act.

  1         (c)  A person or corporation that purchases 10,000 or

  2  more panther license plates shall pay an annual use fee of $5

  3  per plate and an annual processing fee of $2 per plate, in

  4  addition to the applicable license tax required under s.

  5  320.08.

  6         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.

11  The CS deletes provides all proceeds from the Florida Panther
    license plate are to be deposited into the Florida Panther
12  Research and Management Trust Fund for education and programs
    to protect the endangered Florida Panther.
