1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act designating the official citrus archive
3 of Florida; providing an effective date.

5 WHEREAS, Florida Southern College, under the direction
6 of Professor Thomas B. Mack, has since 1948 been developing an
7 archive of the Florida citrus industry, and
8 WHEREAS, this collection of historical records,
9 photographs, maps, books, crate labels, documents, and other
10 materials pertaining to the Florida citrus industry now
11 includes thousands of items, and
12 WHEREAS, the Florida citrus industry benefits both
13 directly and indirectly from the archiving of its records in a
14 manner to provide future generations a resource to discover
15 its past, and
16 WHEREAS, Florida Southern College has a commitment to
17 keeping the Florida Citrus Archives as a part of its campus
18 and teaching program, granting free access to anyone wanting
19 to know more of the history of the Florida citrus industry,
20 NOW, THEREFORE,

22 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

24 Section 1. Official citrus archive.--The Florida
25 Citrus Archives, dedicated to Thomas B. Mack and located at
26 Florida Southern College in Lakeland, are designated as the
27 official citrus archive of Florida.
28 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
29 law.
