14 On page 26 of the bill, between lines 16 & 17,

16 insert:
17 Section 28. Section 589.19, Florida Statutes, is
18 amended to read:
19 589.19 Creation of certain state forests; naming of
20 certain state forests.--
21 (1) When the Board of Trustees of the Internal
22 Improvement Trust Fund, any state agency, or any agency
23 created by state law, authorized to accept reforestation lands
24 in the name of the state, approve the recommendations of the
25 Division of Forestry in reference to the acquisition of land
26 and acquire such land, the said board, state agency, or agency
27 created by state law, may formally designate and dedicate any
28 area as a reforestation project, or state forest, and where so
29 designated and dedicated such area shall be under the
30 administration of the division which shall be authorized to
31 manage and administer said area according to the purpose for

1 which it was designated and dedicated.
2 (2) The first state forest acquired by the Board of
3 Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund in Baker
4 County is to be named the John M. Bethea State Forest. This
5 is to honor Mr. John M. Bethea who was Florida's fourth state
6 forester and whose distinguished career in state government
7 spanned 46 years and who is a native of Baker County.
