  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to public accountancy; amending

  3         s. 473.313, F.S.; providing authority for the

  4         reinstatement of certain licensees whose

  5         licenses have become void; providing an

  6         effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Subsection (4) is added to section 473.313,

11  Florida Statutes, to read:

12         473.313  Inactive status.--

13         (4)  Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 455.271, the

14  board may, at its discretion, reinstate the license of an

15  individual whose license has become null and void if the

16  individual has made a good-faith effort to comply with this

17  section but has failed to comply because of illness or unusual

18  hardship. The individual shall apply to the board for

19  reinstatement in a manner prescribed by rules of the board and

20  shall pay an application fee in an amount determined by rule

21  of the board. Such an individual must meet standards as the

22  board deems appropriate, including, but not limited to,

23  continuing education requirements and fees.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.

29  The Committee Substitute for Senate Bill 2096 requires the
    Board of Accountancy to establish in rule the procedure for
30  applying for reinstatement and an application fee.
