1 Senate Resolution No. ____
2 A resolution recognizing Painters District
3 Council Number 78 on the grand opening of its
4 new state facility and recognizing April 21,
5 2001, as Excellence in Apprenticeship Day.

7 WHEREAS, the National Apprenticeship Act of 1937
8 initiated registered apprenticeship training in this country,
9 and
10 WHEREAS, apprenticeship training in this country and
11 state grew rapidly, and, by 1947, this state had more than 100
12 such programs and 2,000 apprentices registered with the
13 Florida Apprenticeship Council, and
14 WHEREAS, the Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship
15 Program has been one of the more successful apprenticeship
16 programs in this state for more than 20 years, and
17 WHEREAS, the Painters District Council Number 78 is
18 celebrating the grand opening of its new facility and
19 permanent home in Orlando, and
20 WHEREAS, it is fitting that this body recognize those
21 persons who are helping residents of this state to perfect
22 their work skills in order to achieve a full and productive
23 life, NOW, THEREFORE,

25 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
26
27 That Painters District Council Number 78 is commended
28 upon the grand opening of its new facility in Orlando, and
29 April 21, 2001, is recognized as Excellence in Apprenticeship
30 Day in this state.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,
2 with the seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the
3 Painters District Council Number 78 as a tangible token of the
4 sentiments of the Florida Senate.
