11 The Committee on Claims offered the following:

13 Amendment (with title amendment)
14 On page 2, lines 9-17,
15 remove from the bill: all of said lines
16
17 and insert in lieu thereof:
18 Section 2. Martin County is authorized and directed to
19 draw a warrant in the sum of $1,750,000, less amounts payable
20 pursuant to section 3, payable to Margaret Helm as
21 compensation for injuries and damages caused by the negligence
22 of the Martin County Volunteer Fire Department. After payment
23 of any outstanding liens not specified in section 3, statutory
24 attorney's fees, and costs, the remaining proceeds shall be
25 paid to Margaret Helm.
26 In addition to the $1,750,000 lump sum payment, Martin
27 County is also directed to pay an additional $500,000 to
28 Margaret Helm in the form of an annunity.
29 Section 3. The governmental entity responsible for
30 payment of the warrant shall pay to the Florida Agency for
31 Health Care Administration the amount due under section

1 409.910, Florida Statutes, prior to disbursing any funds to
2 the claimant. The amount due the agency shall be equal to all
3 unreimbursed medical payments paid by Medicaid up to the date
4 upon which this act becomes a law.
5 The governmental entity responsible for payment of the
6 warrant shall also pay to the Florida Department of Health the
7 amount due to the department prior to disbursing any funds to
8 the claimant. The amount due to the department shall be equal
9 to all unreimbursed payments paid by the Brain and Spinal Cord
10 Injury Program up to the date upon which this act becomes a
11 law.

17 remove from the title of the bill: all of said line

19 and insert in lieu thereof:
20 specifying the use of funds appropriated;
21 providing for reimbursement of Medicaid and

23 expenditures; providing an effective date.
