  1                      A bill to be entitled
  2         An act relating to the pilot program for
  3         attorneys ad litem for dependent children;
  4         amending s. 39.4086, F.S.; providing that the
  5         program be funded according to specific
  6         appropriation; providing an effective date.
  7
  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
  9
10         Section 1.  Subsection (4) of section 39.4086, Florida
11  Statutes, is amended to read:
12         39.4086  Pilot program for attorneys ad litem for
13  dependent children.--
14         (4)  FUNDING.--The Office of the State Courts
15  Administrator shall conduct the pilot program subject to the
16  specific appropriation of funds. The sums of $1,040,111 in
17  recurring funds and $48,674 in nonrecurring funds are
18  appropriated from the General Revenue Fund and two
19  full-time-equivalent positions are authorized for Court
20  Operations--Circuit Courts in the State Court System to
21  operate the attorney ad litem pilot program in the Ninth
22  Judicial Circuit and provide adequate guardian ad litem
23  representation that is in the best interests of all children
24  involved in the pilot program. The sum of $696,798 in
25  recurring funds is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund,
26  and 14 full-time equivalent positions are authorized, for the
27  circuit court budget to ensure best interests representation
28  by the Guardian Ad Litem Program as part of the pilot program.
29  The sum of $75,000 in nonrecurring funds is appropriated from
30  the General Revenue Fund to the Supreme Court for the Office

  1  of the State Courts Administrator for the purpose of
  2  evaluating the pilot program.
  3         Section 2.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2002.
