17 Section 1. Subsection (6) is added to section 372.072,
18 Florida Statutes, to read:
19 372.072 Endangered and Threatened Species.--
20 (6) MEASURABLE BIOLOGICAL GOALS.--By February 15,
21 2003, the commission, working in conjunction with the United
22 States Fish and Wildlife Service, shall develop measurable
23 biological goals that define recovery for manatees. These
24 measurable biological goals shall be used by the commission in
25 its development of management plans or work plans and shall be
26 used by the commission to evaluate the effectiveness of
27 existing and proposed protection rules and to determine the
28 progress in achieving manatee recovery. These goals, work
29 plans, and evaluations must be made available to local
30 governments and to any other party upon request.
