12  Appropriations offered the following:

14         Amendment (with title amendment) 

15         On page 18, between lines 2 and 3,

16

17  insert:

18         Section 10.  Subsections (5) and (11) of section

19  319.23, Florida Statutes, are amended to read:

20         319.23  Application for, and issuance of, certificate

21  of title.--

22         (5)  The certificate of title issued by the department

23  for a motor vehicle or mobile home previously registered

24  outside this state shall give the name of the state or country

25  in which the vehicle was last registered outside this state.

26  The department shall retain the evidence of title presented by

27  the applicant upon which the certificate of title is issued.

28  The department shall use reasonable diligence in ascertaining

29  whether or not the facts in the application are true; and, if

30  satisfied that the applicant is the owner of the motor vehicle

31  or mobile home and that the application is in the proper form,

  1  it shall issue a certificate of title.

  2         (11)  The department is not required to retain any

  3  evidence of title presented by the applicant and based on

  4  which the certificate of title is issued.

  9         On page 2, line 1, after the semicolon,

11  insert:

12         amending s. 319.23, F.S.; requiring the

13         Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

14         to retain certain evidence of titles upon which

15         new titles are issued;
