18 (1) Florida representative,
19 (2) Florida senator, or
20 (3) Florida Lieutenant governor,
21 (4) any office of the Florida cabinet,
22 (5) U.S. Representative from Florida, or
23 (6) U.S. Senator from Florida

25 if, by the end of the current term of office, the person will
26 have served (or, but for resignation, would have served) in
27 that office for twelve eight consecutive years.
28 (c) No person may appear on the ballot for re-election
29 to the office of Florida Lieutenant governor if, by the end of
30 the current term of office, the person will have served (or,
31 but for resignation, would have served) in that office for

3 SCHEDULE
4 SECTION 26. Term limits.--The amendment to Section 4
5 of Article VI denying ballot access for re-election to any
6 cabinet officer or state legislator who will have served (or,
7 but for resignation, would have served) in that office for 12
8 consecutive years, rather than 8 consecutive years, shall take
9 effect upon approval by the voters and shall apply only to
10 those officers whose consecutive years in office begin in
11 November 2002 or thereafter.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in accordance with the
13 requirements of section 101.161, Florida Statutes, the title
14 and substance of the amendment proposed herein shall appear on
15 the ballot as follows:
16 TERM LIMITS
17 Increases, from 8 to 12, the number of consecutive
18 years a state legislator or any Cabinet officer may serve in
19 that office before being denied the right to have his or her
20 name appear on the ballot for re-election to that office.
21 Applies to those officers whose consecutive years in office
22 begin in November 2002 or thereafter. Removes provisions that
23 apply term limits by means of ballot access to members of
24 Congress, which the United States Supreme Court has determined
25 violate the Federal Constitution.
