17 Section 10. Subsection (6) of section 827.06, Florida
18 Statutes, is amended to read:
19 827.06 Nonsupport of dependents.--
20 (6) Prior to commencing prosecution under this
21 section, the state attorney must notify the person responsible
22 for support by certified mail, return receipt requested, or by
23 using any other means permitted for service of process in a
24 civil action, that a prosecution under this section will be
25 commenced against him or her unless the person pays the total
26 unpaid support obligation or provides a satisfactory
27 explanation as to why he or she has not made such payments.
