  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to citizen support organization

  3         audits; amending ss. 20.2551 and 258.015, F.S.;

  4         revising provisions relating to annual audits;

  5         providing an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8

  9         Section 1.  Subsection (3) of section 20.2551, Florida

10  Statutes, is amended to read:

11         20.2551  Citizen support organizations; use of

12  property; audit; public records; partnerships.--

13         (3)  ANNUAL AUDIT.--Each citizen support organization

14  shall provide for an annual financial audit in accordance with

15  s. 215.981. Notwithstanding the requirements of s. 215.981,

16  any citizen support organization that has an annual

17  expenditure of $100,000 or more shall cause an annual

18  postaudit of its financial accounts to be conducted by an

19  independent certified public accountant in accordance with

20  rules to be adopted by the department. The annual audit report

21  shall be submitted to the Auditor General and the department

22  for review.

23         Section 2.  Subsection (4) is added to section 258.015,

24  Florida Statutes, to read:

25         258.015  Citizen support organizations; use of

26  property; audit.--

27         (4)  ANNUAL AUDIT.--Notwithstanding the requirements of

28  s. 215.981, any citizen support organization that has an

29  annual expenditure of $100,000 or more shall cause an annual

30  postaudit of its financial accounts to be conducted by an

  4         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2002.
