13         Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 1, between lines 19 and 20, of the bill

15

16  insert:

17         Section 1.  Section 196.061, Florida Statutes, is

18  amended to read:

19         196.061  Rental of homestead to constitute

20  abandonment.--The rental of an entire dwelling previously

21  claimed to be a homestead for tax purposes shall constitute

22  the abandonment of said dwelling as a homestead, and said

23  abandonment shall continue until such dwelling is physically

24  occupied by the owner thereof.  However, such abandonment of

25  such homestead after January 1 of any year shall not affect

26  the homestead exemption for tax purposes for that particular

27  year so long as this provision is not used for 2 consecutive

28  years. The provisions of this section shall not apply to a

29  member of the Armed Forces of the United States whose service

30  in such forces is the result of a mandatory obligation imposed

31  by the federal Selective Service Act or who volunteers for
