13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 1, line 14,

16  insert:

17         Section 1.  Paragraph (h) is added to subsection (5) of

18  section 230.23, Florida Statutes, to read:

19         230.23  Powers and duties of school board.--The school

20  board, acting as a board, shall exercise all powers and

21  perform all duties listed below:

22         (5)  PERSONNEL.--Designate positions to be filled,

23  prescribe qualifications for those positions, and provide for

24  the appointment, compensation, promotion, suspension, and

25  dismissal of employees as follows, subject to the requirements

26  of chapter 231:

27         (h)  Employees and relatives.--Notwithstanding any

28  provisions of law to the contrary, provide that an individual

29  school board member may not appoint, employ, contract with,

30  promote, or advance an individual who is a relative of such

31  individual school board member.  For purposes of this
