  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution acknowledging May 2, 2002, as the

  3         National Day of Prayer in Florida.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has passed a

  6  law proclaiming the first Thursday of each May as the

  7  "National Day of Prayer," and

  8         WHEREAS, May 2 is the first Thursday in May of 2002,

  9  and

10         WHEREAS, the theme for this year's National Day of

11  Prayer is "America United Under God," and

12         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the House

13  of Representatives acknowledge May 2, 2002, as the National

14  Day of Prayer in Florida, NOW, THEREFORE,

16  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

17  Florida:

19         That the House of Representatives joyfully acknowledges

20  May 2, 2002, as the National Day of Prayer in Florida and

21  joins Floridians of all faiths in celebrating this occasion.

22         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we express our faith with

23  gladness, knowing that we are protected in our ability to

24  worship devoutly, and that we be thankful and enjoy and

25  exercise our religious beliefs, secure in the knowledge that

26  in this great country we shall always be free to do so.
