14          Amendment to Amendment (009889) (with title amendment)
15          Remove line(s) 100, and insert:
16          Section 6. Subsection (2) of section 110.105, Florida
17    Statutes, is amended to read:
18          110.105 Employment policy of the state.--
19          (2) All appointments, terminations, assignments and
20    maintenance of status, compensation, privileges, and other terms
21    and conditions of employment in state government shall be made
22    without regard to age, sex, pregnancy status, as defined in s.
23    760.10,race, religion, national origin, political affiliation,
24    marital status, or handicap, except when a specific sex, age, or
25    physical requirement constitutes a bona fide occupational
26    qualification necessary to proper and efficient administration.
27          Section 7. Subsection (1) of section 110.233, Florida
28    Statutes, is amended to read:
29          110.233 Political activities and unlawful acts
30    prohibited.--
31          (1) No person shall be appointed to, demoted, or dismissed
32    from any position in the career service, or in any way favored
33    or discriminated against with respect to employment in the
34    career service, because of race, color, national origin, sex,
35    pregnancy status, as defined in s. 760.10,handicap, religious
36    creed, or political opinion or affiliation.
37          Section 8. Subsection (1) of section 112.042, Florida
38    Statutes, is amended to read:
39          112.042 Discrimination in county and municipal employment;
40    relief.--
41          (1) It is against the public policy of this state for the
42    governing body of any county or municipal agency, board,
43    commission, department, or office, solely because of the race,
44    color, national origin, sex, pregnancy status, as defined in s.
45    760.10,handicap, or religious creed of any individual, to
46    refuse to hire or employ, to bar, or to discharge from
47    employment such individuals or to otherwise discriminate against
48    such individuals with respect to compensation, hire, tenure,
49    terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, if the
50    individual is the most competent and able to perform the
51    services required.
52          Section 9. Subsection (10) of section 760.10, Florida
53    Statutes, is renumbered as subsection (11) and a new subsection
54    (10) is added to said section to read:
55          760.10 Unlawful employment practices.--
56          (10) As used in this section, the terms "because of sex"
57    and "on the basis of sex" include because or on the basis of
58    pregnancy status. Pregnancy status does not require an employer
59    to pay for health insurance benefits for abortion, except where
60    the life of the mother would be endangered if the fetus were
61    carried to term or except where medical complications have
62    arisen from an abortion.
63          Section 10. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
64    law.

67          Remove line(s) 123, and insert:
68          accommodation; amending ss. 110.105, 110.233, 112.042, and
69    760.10, F.S.; revising provisions relating to state
70    employment policy, career service appointments, county and
71    municipal employment, and unlawful employment practices,
72    to provide that discrimination on the basis of sex
73    includes discrimination on the basis of pregnancy,
74    childbirth, or related medical conditions; providing a
75    limitation with respect to employer health insurance
76    benefits; providing an effective date.
