2	An act relating to funding for school districts; amending
3	s. 1011.62, F.S.; deleting the restriction to fiscal year
4	2002-2003 on the transfer of categorical funds to school
5	board specified academic classroom instruction; providing
6	an effective date.

8	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10	Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subsection (5) of section
11	1011.62, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
12	1011.62 Funds for operation of schools.--If the annual
13	allocation from the Florida Education Finance Program to each
14	district for operation of schools is not determined in the
15	annual appropriations act or the substantive bill implementing
16	the annual appropriations act, it shall be determined as
17	follows:
18	(5) CATEGORICAL FUNDS.--
19	(b)For fiscal year 2002-2003,If a district school board
20	finds and declares in a resolution adopted at a regular meeting
21	of the school board that the funds received for any of the
22	following categorical appropriations are urgently needed to
23	maintain school board specified academic classroom instruction,
24	the school board may consider and approve an amendment to the
25	school district operating budget transferring the identified
26	amount of the categorical funds to the appropriate account for
27	expenditure:
28	1. Funds for student transportation.
29	2. Funds for in-service educational personnel training.
30	3. Funds for safe schools.
31	4. Funds for public school technology.
32	5. Funds for teacher recruitment and retention.
33	6. Funds for supplemental academic instruction.
34	Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2003.
