| 1 | A bill to be entitled | ||
| 2 | An act relating to rates of per diem for subsistence and | ||
| 3 | transportation mileage for state employees; increasing the | ||
| 4 | rate of per diem for subsistence based upon a historical | ||
| 5 | value of the Consumer Price Index; providing for biennial | ||
| 6 | increases of such rate; increasing the rate of per diem | ||
| 7 | for transportation mileage to a percentage of the | ||
| 8 | federally allowable rate; providing for increasing such | ||
| 9 | rate each year to match the federal rate; providing an | ||
| 10 | effective date. | ||

| 12 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: | ||
| 13 | |||
| 14 | Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 112.061, | ||
| 15 | Florida Statutes, the rates of per diem for subsistence and | ||
| 16 | mileage for state employees shall be adjusted as follows: | ||
| 17 | (1) For state fiscal year 2003-2004, the rate of per diem | ||
| 18 | for subsistence under s. 112.061, Florida Statutes, shall be | ||
| 19 | increased to reflect the Consumer Price Index value as of 1990 | ||
| 20 | and then shall be increased every 2 years by the percentage of | ||
| 21 | growth in the Consumer Price Index over such 2-year periods. | ||
| 22 | (2) For state fiscal year 2003-2004, the rate of per diem | ||
| 23 | for transportation mileage under s. 112.061, Florida Statutes, | ||
| 24 | shall be increased to 90 percent of the federal allowable amount | ||
| 25 | per mile for such year. Thereafter, the rate shall be increased | ||
| 26 | each year by not more than 1 cent per mile until the rate | ||
| 27 | matches the federal rate for that year. Thereafter, the rate for | ||
| 28 | transportation mileage shall be equal to the federal rate. | ||
| 29 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. | ||
