  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing the first week of

  3         December as "Intergenerational Week" in the

  4         State of Florida.

  5  

  6         WHEREAS, the Bridge Legacy Project, founded by the

  7  Florida 106 Leadership Team of Summit Education, fosters

  8  mentoring between the young and the young at heart and

  9  partners youth and seniors, creating loving, nurturing, and

10  meaningful relationships, and

11         WHEREAS, Bridges works to raise awareness, create

12  partnerships, and encourage actions on behalf of the seniors

13  and youth, including seniors in nursing care and youth in

14  foster care, thereby providing both groups with the

15  opportunity to reshape any misconceptions that each has about

16  the other, and

17         WHEREAS, Florida 106 has made a commendable commitment

18  to launch a week of activities designed to support its

19  intergenerational mission, and

20         WHEREAS, it is desirable that other residents of this

21  state who work with the young and the young at heart should

22  undertake their own projects annually during Intergenerational

23  Week, and

24         WHEREAS, these events take place during the first week

25  of December, NOW, THEREFORE,

27  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

28  

29         That the Florida Senate recognizes the first week of

30  December as "Intergenerational Week."
