1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the Department of
3 Transportation SunPass program; amending s.
4 320.02, F.S.; providing for the purchase of a
5 SunPass transponder and enrollment in the
6 SunPass program at the time of registration or
7 renewal thereof; providing conditions of the
8 sale; requiring that the application form for
9 motor vehicle registration and renewal of
10 registration must include language permitting
11 purchase; requiring that such purchase be
12 available in every county with a toll road;
13 providing for a specified fee to be paid by the
14 state to the motor vehicle registration agency
15 for the sale; providing an effective date.

17 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

19 Section 1. Subsection (18) is added to section 320.02,
20 Florida Statutes, to read:
21 320.02 Registration required; application for
22 registration; forms.--
23 (18) In every county containing a toll road, the
24 application form for motor vehicle registration and renewal of
25 registration must include language permitting the voluntary
26 purchase of a SunPass Transponder. For each transponder sold
27 through a motor vehicle registration agency at the time of
28 vehicle registration or renewal, there shall be a $10 discount
29 on the purchase and a $10 SunPass account credit to those who
30 enroll in the SunPass program. Motor vehicle registration

1 agencies shall receive a transaction fee of $2 from the state
2 for each transponder sold under this program.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2003.
