| 1 | A bill to be entitled | ||
| 2 | An act relating to convention and visitors bureaus; | ||
| 3 | providing prerequisites an organization must fulfill | ||
| 4 | before representing to the public that it is an official | ||
| 5 | Florida convention and visitors bureau, visitors bureau, | ||
| 6 | tourist development council, or welcome center; providing | ||
| 7 | that organizations meeting these criteria may receive | ||
| 8 | tourist-development tax revenues under s. 125.0104, F.S.; | ||
| 9 | providing an effective date. | ||

| 11 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: | ||
| 12 | |||
| 13 | Section 1. Official visitors bureau, tourist development | ||
| 14 | council, or welcome center; criteria; eligibility to receive tax | ||
| 15 | revenue.-- | ||
| 16 | (1) Before an organization may represent to the general | ||
| 17 | public that it is an official Florida convention and visitors | ||
| 18 | bureau, visitors bureau, tourist development council, or welcome | ||
| 19 | center: | ||
| 20 | (a) The organization must be the principal organization in | ||
| 21 | the county which is organized to solicit and service conventions | ||
| 22 | and other types of visitors; and | ||
| 23 | (b) The board of county commissioners must have defined | ||
| 24 | and authorized the organization as the representative | ||
| 25 | organization exercising those functions. | ||
| 26 | (2) An organization that meets the criteria set forth in | ||
| 27 | subsection (1) is eligible to receive tax revenues under section | ||
| 28 | 125.0104, Florida Statutes. | ||
| 29 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. | ||
