11  The Committee on Banking and Insurance recommended the
12  following amendment:

14         Senate Amendment 
15         Lines 12 - 51, delete those lines

17  and insert:  
18         Section 1.  Section 14.055, Florida Statutes, is
19  amended to read:
20         14.055  Succession to office of Governor.--Upon vacancy
21  in the office of Governor, the Lieutenant Governor shall
22  become Governor. Upon vacancy in the office of Governor and in
23  the office of Lieutenant Governor, the Secretary of State
24  shall become Governor; or if the office of Secretary of State
25  be vacant, then the Attorney General shall become Governor; or
26  if the office of Attorney General be vacant, then the Chief
27  Financial Officer Comptroller shall become Governor; or if the
28  office of Comptroller be vacant, then the Treasurer shall
29  become Governor; or if the office of Treasurer be vacant, then
30  the Commissioner of Education shall become Governor; or if the
31  office of Chief Financial Officer Commissioner of Education be

SENATE AMENDMENT Bill No. HB 739, 1st Eng. Amendment No. 1 Barcode 500964 1 vacant, then the Commissioner of Agriculture shall become 2 Governor. A successor under this section shall serve for the 3 remainder of the term and shall receive all the rights, 4 privileges and emoluments of the Governor. In case a vacancy 5 shall occur in the office of Governor and provision is not 6 made herein for filling such vacancy, then the Speaker of the 7 House and the President of the Senate shall convene the 8 Legislature by joint proclamation within 15 days for the 9 purpose of choosing a person to serve as Governor for the 10 remainder of the term.
