1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to prescriptions for medicinal drugs;
3	prohibiting persons from requiring the use of a federally
4	issued prescriber identification number on a prescription
5	when such use is not otherwise required; providing
6	penalties; providing an effective date.

8	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10	Section 1. It is unlawful for any person, firm, or
11	corporation to require the use on a prescription of a federally
12	issued registration number that authorizes the prescriber to
13	prescribe controlled substances or scheduled drugs when that use
14	is not otherwise required by federal or state law or rule.
15	Violation of this section constitutes a misdemeanor of the
16	second degree, punishable as provided in section 775.082 or
17	section 775.083, Florida Statutes.
18	Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2003.
