| 1 | A bill to be entitled |
| 2 | An act relating to the City of Weeki Wachee, Hernando |
| 3 | County; prohibiting the City of Weeki Wachee from |
| 4 | exercising the right of eminent domain; prohibiting the |
| 5 | annexation of land; limiting the amount of ad valorem |
| 6 | taxes that may be assessed; providing for rules governing |
| 7 | municipal elections; transferring responsibility for city |
| 8 | finances to the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Hernando |
| 9 | County; providing an effective date. |

| 11 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 12 |

| 13 | Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of part IV of |
| 14 | chapter 166, Florida Statutes, or any other applicable law or |
| 15 | ordinance, the City of Weeki Wachee may not exercise the right |
| 16 | and power of eminent domain. |
| 17 | Section 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of chapter 171, |
| 18 | Florida Statutes, or any other applicable law or ordinance, the |
| 19 | municipal boundaries of the City of Weeki Wachee may not be |
| 20 | changed through annexation. |
| 21 | Section 3. The amount of ad valorem taxes levied by the |
| 22 | City of Weeki Wachee annually on real and personal property |
| 23 | within the geographic boundaries of the city may not exceed 3 |
| 24 | mills on the dollar of the total assessed valuation of the |
| 25 | property. |
| 26 | Section 4. All municipal elections in the City of Weeki |
| 27 | Wachee shall be conducted and supervised by the supervisor of |
| 28 | elections of Hernando County under rules governing general |
| 29 | elections in the county. |
| 30 | Section 5. The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Hernando |
| 31 | County shall act as ex officio clerk and treasurer for the City |
| 32 | of Weeki Wachee and shall be responsible for all financial |
| 33 | transactions of the city. |
| 34 | Section 6. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
