| 4 | Remove lines 853-861 and insert: |
| 5 | 2. The board, or the department when there is no board, |
| 6 | shall approve and begin administering a national examination no |
| 7 | later than December 31, 2001. Neither the board nor the |
| 8 | department may administer a state-developed written examination, |
| 9 | except for physician assistants, after December 31, 2001, |
| 10 | notwithstanding any other provision of law, provided a national |
| 11 | examination has been certified by the department. For physician |
| 12 | assistants, beginning August 1, 2004 the board or the department |
| 13 | shall administer at least three times, a state-developed written |
| 14 | examination. The examination dates shall be offered not less |
| 15 | than 9 months apart and not more than 12 months apart. The |
| 16 | examination may be administered electronically if adequate |
| 17 | security measures are used, as determined by rule of the |
| 18 | department. |
